東京藝術大学美術学部建築学科の教授であるトム・ヘネガン氏の退官展に合わせて出版された講義録。
10のテーマをそれぞれ色の異なる寸足らずの扉で区切り、図版に番号を振り分けて本文との照合をとりつつ、章の初めに全体のイメージが掴めるような構成になっている。本文は英語のみ。
表紙は著者の卓上で見つけた日頃のメモや私物の文房具、過去作のスケッチ、授業に関するシラバスなどからコラージュしたグラフィック。表紙の一部を破くことでタイトルが現れる仕様になっており、全て学生が手作業で行ったので一つ一つ表情が異なる本になった。

（展覧会概要より）
トム・ヘネガン教授は2009年の着任より、建築を学び始めたばかりの学部1年生に向けて「建築概論」の講義を担当することとなり、現在まで一連の講義を構築してきました。その講義の中で彼は「建築を作るということは物質的にも知性的にも創造性を発揮することである」ということを伝えるため、建築のアイデアを新しいか古いかではなく、「現代建築とは？」「先例／発明」「革命」「時代精神」「技術」「結構」「自然」「光／眺め」「土地」「意図」という10の主題によって吟味することで展開していました。本展ではその講義を記録し、再編集したものを映像にて展示いたします。

Eight years ago, Professor Tom Heneghan began a lecture series that concentrated onintroducing Tokyo University of the Arts Year 1 students to the concept that architects are involved in both physical and intellectual creativity.
The title of the lectures was “Ideas in Architecture.” It examined architecture by the themes of its ideas, not by its dates.
